The working
Every shot in the open archive, scored by our own xG model; a pass is credited with the xG of the shot it created. No recency weighting, no era adjustment, no reputation input: the archive speaks, nothing else. Built from StatsBomb Open Data with attribution; the five biggest leagues , England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France, from 2014/15 to today are read from Understat’s shot records, our model scores every one of them, and only our numbers surface. Where a match lives in both sources, StatsBomb wins and the Understat copy is dropped, so no game is counted twice. Table generated 2026-06-13.
Who is missing, and why: the corpus now runs from the 1958 World Cup to last month’s league football, Maradona’s Napoli and Boca, Arsenal’s unbeaten 2003/04, European Cup finals back to 1970, Pelé’s Cosmos, and every season of the big five since 2014/15, so Mbappé, Lewandowski and Osimhen finally carry the leagues they were built in, and Ronaldo’s Juventus years fall into frame. Still absent: the World Cups of 1966, 1978–82 and 1994–2014, and the league football before 2014/15 that StatsBomb has not opened, Cantona’s United, most of the pre-2014 continent , and everything before 1958. We publish what we can measure and refuse to invent the rest. As more matches go open, the board refines itself.
